Still recuperating from the birthday bumps I was wondering what to do this weekend. Sheer luck had me and I found that TechnologiX ‘08 was being held at the Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore. TechnologiX is the technical/cultural fest  that the SJCE chapter of Computer Society of India conducts annually. Owing to my badluck, I missed the deadline on ‘X-files’, the paper presentation, but we still managed participated in the Virtual Mouse Hunt (with Rahul) and the Quiz (with Bala).

The Mouse Hunt was a crowd puller. Rahul and me successfuly cracked 4 levels out of a total 6. We were just behind two more groups in the race when we go stuck at an ASCII puzzle at Level 4. Still blaming ourselves how we could have missed out that one .

The quiz attracted more than 60 teams. From questions like the world’s cheapest car (If u just thought the answer is TATA Nano, think again. The answer is Tara an Indian car available @ just INR 99,000 - we got that right!) to Carla Brunie, we battled our wits. Emerged successfully at the top 8 out of 60, but  missed out the Super 6 round by 1/2 mark. We got the spelling of Arjuna’s son Babruvahana wrong and that cost us our spot!!

We promised ourselves that we will take another crack at the event next year too. In the end, we three had a great time and I particularly had a great weekend.

Last semester, I penned my term paper on the topic, "Are BPO’s any good for India?" and ended the paper with a cliche positive note. But this movie, which won a bunch of awards, is totally on the other side of life - the hilarious side!

Being a tech support or "call answer" person definitely requires lots of patience, and a sense of humor.

Customer: "I’ve been ringing 0700 2300 for two days and can’t get through to enquiries, can you help?"
Operator: "Where did you get that number from, sir?"
Customer: "It was on the door to the travel centre".
Operator: "They’re our opening hours".

A smiley is sure worth a thousand words. I use Gtalk for my communication on a regular basis and what fun without the smileys?. But are you aware of all the hidden smileys/emoticons in Gtalk?

While they are some third-party applications which allow you to change the plain jane Google Talk window with a custom background and add smileys, Gtalk in itself has some nice hidden smileys!

Installing MySQL Server on Microsoft Vista can be a little tricky, especially with the side-by-side configuration error code.

A simple step-by-step procedure will have MySQL running on your Vista based system and rearing to go. PS: You need to have administrator privileges to your system.

 What an unforgettable birthday I had ! . I am just posting this up as I endevaour into yet another year in my life. I just shot a mail to my classmates thanking them for such a great day. Here’s a gist of that

hey fellows, Its been great fun. Frolic to the maximum. I have enjoyed every bit of time right from the time it clocked 12.00 a.m. till midnight. Three rounds of "unforgettable, pure inflictive, still aching birthday bumps I ever got". The vanilla cake was gr8 and  chocolate cake into which my face was pounded into tasted delicious thou ;] . And all this payoffs to each and everyone in the class. The gift was soo cute that I decided I am going to keep a class pic in that frame and hang it in my room. Now comes the "Revenge of the Sith" part. I am going to avenge my anguish for the next birthdays to come. hahaha. Be prepared birthday boys ;] . Announcing the "ISiM Birthday Bumps Destructive Team - Tag line (Birthday Bumps never tasted the same before !)". Ever saw WWF? Don’t worry, you are soon going be a part of it. Be prepared. We all know who the next victim is , don’t cha? (laughs hysterically) Thx again class,
